Established in the 1830s, the Delaware County Institute of Science is an esteemed organization featuring monthly lectures, a natural science library with several thousand books, and a small but sophisticated museum. Visitors can view mounted birds and other animals, an herbarium of native plants, various fossils, shells, and corals from around the world, and other exhibits. The Institute lies in the heart of town, just east of Glen Providence Park.
